- They keep you warmer in winter, give you more skin protection on race day, allow you to un-zip in summer without showing off your chest and stomach, heck the base layer is an un-sung item for every cyclist and we get customers telling us all the time that this is their favourite!
Our unisex base layer is made from a single bluesign® approved fabric manufactured at one of the world's leading warp knitted fabric mills, M.I.T.I Spa, based in Northern Italy. The base layer features a super lightweight and high stretch wicking mesh fabric for use in both hot and cold conditions, twist cut pattern panels for a far greater fit and a woven label sewn into the front collar hem.

- When washing, always turn inside out, close any zippers, buttons or velcro on other garments in the same wash cycle and wash in cool water by hand or on a gentle washing machine cycle. Try using plant based and biodegradable washing liquid or dissolved powder that is not tested on animals. Wash dark colours separately. Do not bleach. Do not twist or wring. Hang dry inside-out to avoid any sun fading. Do not iron. Do not dry clean. Only tumble dry on a low heat setting. Do your best to avoid contact with rough surfaces like brick walls or concrete.
- Our base layers are made to fit you pretty snug as you don't want it to be puckering underneath your jersey. That's why we use a high stretch mesh so it still feels comfortable even though its tight against your skin.
Our Vegan Athletic Size Charts will help you find your size. As our base layers are unisex, we recommend that men choose the same size base layer as whatever size jersey they would wear, and women to go down one size from whatever size jersey they would wear. If you're a size XS woman, then the XS base layer will be a perfect fit for you too, there is no need for an XX-small in this case.
- Vegan Athletic takes pride in the fact that all our operations are conducted in a way that focused on limiting our carbon impact on the planet. We strive to be 100% zero waste.
You’ll notice we proudly use no plastic wrapping, product bags or product tags on any of our items and shipments. We do this consciously in an effort to use as little material as possible and reduce our carbon footprint. This is a step towards our goal of becoming a 100% zero waste organization.
Zero Waste means designing and managing products and processes to systematically avoid and eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste and materials, conserve and recover all resources, and not burn or bury them. Implementing Zero Waste will eliminate all discharges to land, water or air that are a threat to planetary, human, animal or plant health.
